2012 model "Smart Key not found" |
|
Parked my car at the supermarket, bought a few groceries, came back out and car wouldnt open with remote.
So, I took out the manual key, opened the car door.
The alarm went off.
Car couldnt be started, not even following owners manual instructions i.e. putting key under steering column etc.
Wouldnt respond to the remote.
Called Landrover assist, they eventually came disconnected battery etc.
Tried all the tricks, nothing would work.
I even tried the spare key, but no success.
Car was put on the trailer and taken to dealer.
Hopefully I find out soon enough what is the problem.
Cars only done 5000kms. 3 months old.

I had a similar problem, albeit very briefly. When it didn't unlock i walked away and then came back and tried again and all was ok??? Very strange!

The dealers rang me up on Monday morning, said when they took it off the tow truck it started!
Anyway, they said they will run the diagnostics on it.
Apparently several log entries on the diagnostics.
They traced the problem and found a "crushed" wire behind the dashboard.
Seems someone crushed a bit of cable when assembling the dash at the factory.
The wire wasnt broken, but resulted in less resistance which caused the computer to malfunction.
Its all fixed now.
Im glad they found the problem, and Im glad it doesnt look like a recurring problem.

I sometimes get the message that the key is not recognised, I've locked the car, unlocked it again and it seems ok, but will pop it down to the dealers at some stage to get it checked.

If the smart key is in your pocket next to an iPhone, it often isn't recognised by the car. Separate pocket - no problem! Paul

Couple of months ago mine came up with 'smart key not found' while engine was running & passenger door open.Shut the door & message dissapeared, never returned.
No problem until today when same message came up when trying to start car & it wouldn't start.Tried many things & it eventually started.Happened again later in the day.
No i phone etc around.Moving smart key around inside of vehicle also didn't help.
Anyone had this issue?

I have had that twice; I simply switched off and waited a few seconds and it was OK. Fuji White D4 2012. Reversing camera, E-diff, Hi-line sound, Xenon lights, ARB bullbar with Lightforce xenon lights and cargo barrier

mine said it didn't recognise the smartkey, I may have had it next to the iPhone, I rubbed it and it worked, by this time it may not have been next to the iPhone.
Also experienced a rapid flicker of the lights when I pressed the start button to switch on accessories, it stopped when I pressed again..no idea why..anyone else had this problem?

Mine has gone to the stealers so will report back as to what they did to it.My temp display stayed at the one temp. all day which was a bit strange but seems that it has corrected itself.

Cell phone antenna that are dotted all over the UK can cause issues with unlocking the vehicle. Came across this with a Volkswagen Golf at a service station as the owner could not get into the vehicle using the remote fob. Opened the car manually and pushed it few hundred feet and then the remote fob worked. Maybe same issue.

Back from the stealers, they'updated the instrument cluster',what ever that means, replaced it?,updated software?
Anyway,see how it goes.
I didn't have any problems locking or unlocking,it wouldn't start.
