Fuel Filler Flap & Alarm
Had a search around and couldn't find anything specific to my question.
I'm in the process of investigating my alarm randomly going off (it's been back to LR and they've replaced the sounder under extended warranty, surprise surprise it didn't fix it).
I was about to have a play about with the bonnet catch, clean it etc. and noticed an odd clunking sound when I locked/unlocked the car coming from the filler flap and noticed it not locking correctly. Played around with it a bit and locked the car and the horn went. So my question is this...
Does the filler cap locking mechanism form part of the alarm system? If so I'll spend some time on fixing the lock on it in case that is the cause, if not I shall resume my investigations elsewhere
Thanks in advance.

thats what happens when a door isnt closed properly and you try and lock it, you get a beep from the horn, so maybe it is linked to the body control module. (in so much as you get a warning that everything isnt closed properly), but is this also part of the alarm?

I have locked mine with the fuel flap open several time and it has been silent, if you unlock the car and open the fuel flap and refuel, the car will auto lock after about 1 minute if nothing else is operated.
Try pressing the lock button on the remote twice in succession when you lock, this will isolate the motion detectors inside the car, if it does not go off this is the problem. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Never had a problem with the filler cap and not aware of any tie in with the alarm, but the last time I had the alarm going off intermittently in the way you describe, it was being caused by the bonnet switch, about £10 for a new one, been OK ever since.Clive
