Thanks Martin. Looking at those pictures and the ones that Mikey provided earlier, I am certain that I still have a Hitachi compressor installed (which explains my confusion above). Kind of bizarre, and I'll need to look into it more now. Do you happen to remember the date that the AMK compressor began to be used?

If I remember correctly, the AMK was fitted on D4/LR4 in 2011 as a stop gap measure when supply of the Hitachi was interrupted by the events of the tsunami in Japan in March of that year.
Supply swapped back to Hitachi, see http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/post882809.html#882809
But eventually AMK became standard fit when Hitachis were failing on D4s, this seems sometime in the Spring of 2012.
By September 2012 you could no longer order a Hitachi replacement for a D3, an AMK plus retrofit kit was the substitute: http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic83264.html 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

That makes perfect sense then as my compressor was replaced in March, 2012. I must have been on the tail end of the Hitachi compressors. And just to verify, I went back and looked at my service records which showed part number LR023964... Sure enough, that's the Hitachi compressor. Thanks for clearing it up!

Hi guys,
I got my Hitachi compressor replaced with an AMK one, last year (october). Works very smooth and really happy with it.
But im not sure if the software is updated? This replacement was done at a very experienced LR garage, but i dont know if this is common to do if it works well with existing software?
I have the Nanocom Evolution with the D3 support. Is there any way I could check that I have the updated SW version? I guess I can read the version out from the Ride level ECU (Nanocom terminology)?

Thanks Mikey, just used this to get the new compressor on, got there in the end .
Three issues, top bolt, could get something on it just a tad "EASIER" but it just would not bite onto the thread even though I did a dry run with all three bolts.
Secondly I must have missed something on the rear 8mm pipe as that was a complete pita! At what part of the fitting sequence should I have connected it to the fitted pipe.
Lastly it still seems noisy and the front end still seems to take alot longer to raise up than the rear end.
Test drive complete, no lights or bongs so fingers crossed it does not play up on a York to Goodwood juant next week.
Thanks again. NOW SOLD: 2006 TDV6 SE Auto Zermatt silver with Alpaca Leather

Going down the AMK road to. Suspension fault A1C20-64 with IIDTOOL BT. Checked, height control arms, live values and it seems all good (arms, valves). Thinking about renovate the hitatchi but ut seems to be a temporary fix only. Ordered new AMK from advancedfactors and Steve. Ordered a air tank, height sensors and two wheel hubs at the same time (air tank rusty, height sensors fine but one wheel hub really bad).
I really hope for a one hour fix and update with IIDTOOL BT.

I've just received my AMK compressor from Steve. How are you planning to update your software?
Thanks

The IIDTool has an option to flash the Ride Height Module with either Hitachi or AMK software. Simples.
I'm not sure how an MSV-2 does this, John, sorry.

Steve, so does the IIDTool come already loaded with the software? How does that work, as I would think you would need the latest file loaded to the tool before flashing the ECU?
Thanks
John

Yes, the software for the individual modules is already stored in the IIDTool RAM ready for flashing to the ECU in the car. This software gets updated/replaced when the IIDTool is updated to a newer software version.

New shipment arrived from Steve at advancedfactors.
New AMK air compressor, brackets and everything necessary for change.
Also ordered new height sensor x4.
The old air tank looked rusty and ordered a new one so I don't End up with a bad (doing a change at the same time).
Is anyone here Done a air tank swap? I think I read about it but can't find it.
It looks little tight. Simple to swap or hell?

Thanks again.
I would expect the front to take longer to raise as it has the weight of the engine to lift. Certainly mine does.

New compressor AMK and new air tank in place. Paid to have it done. Cost me 75£ and that was ok for me with rusty bolts.
Used a iidtool BT for software upgrade. Easy and fast to do.
After looked at the old compressor I understand why it was not working correctly. Looked really bad all over. Air tank looked also bad with rust.
Now everything works like a charm.
Car raises faster, no faultcodes.
