Hello.
Having been lurking around this forum for about 2 months and must say its has been very helpful in understanding all the aspects of owning a Disco 3.
I will now shortly be taking the plunge into Disco 3 territory.
I have narrowed my choice of car down to a few my 05 models with ca 100-150000 km on the clock. (2,7 HSE)
I tried one yesterday and it seems very good, apart from some worn rear shocks and old tyres.
But i would ask if this behaviour from the autobox is normal. (oil not changed)
It shifts good between all gears but if you accselerate hard in 1 st gear and then let go before it changes into 2" I felt like there was a little bit "slack" in the drivetrain. If you went on the throttle again the the same happend. I did not find it violent og harsh but it was enough to notice. (the 2 year old Volvo XC60 that I am now loaning don´t have this behaviour)
Could not feel this in the upper gears.
Is this normal for an auto that has covered so many km?
(it is not worn bushings in the suspension as that would be heard over bumps and rots in the road!)
Thanks in advance for your input!
Regards from an future Disco 3 owner from Norway!

Buy a manual!!!!! I ha d a G4 2008 and it was ok for the first 16 months I had it then it would hold itself in 1st after leaving a set of Lights or Juction. Went to stealers 3 times and they said it was the and I quote ( it's LandRover lag ) what ever that is. So I bin the car as I didn't get any joy from L R so I've now got my mates 2006 D3 Manual and I love it. Don't know what the new box is like in a D4 had a quick drive round a Dock when I pick a load up but there in Transport mode so I can't play too much.

I have an automatic gear box on my Disco 3 and it is very nice and smooth. It sound as the one you tried is a little worn.
