GVIF 08 v7 from Hids4U - Anyone fitted one of these?

Just taken delivery of one, wiring seems slightly different from v6.2 manual (lots of extra wirings), and v7 manual has no detail.

Anyone got any info on this?

Have spoken to the front desk, but trying to get in contact with technical person, problem is I'm mid install so need to know quite quickly.

I'll post my q's here incase anyone has info

I assume, I don't need to connect the RGB Cable

I've got a few questions

Power/Can/RGB Harness wires

Mode switch and IR switch - straighforward.

Can wiring - I know,we this leave alone (out of interest what would it do?)

IR-av1/2/3 and parking wires, are these to be connected

Rear - I suspect this goes to the live on the Reverse light?

PB12, GPI0-ZO, OPT2, AUX-ON wires, what are these for, and where/if to connect

The sel out port, does these wires (rear sel/navi sel/avi sel) need to be connected? If so to what? Does the mode switch + ir switch not cover this function?

Many thanks

I have just fitted a version 7 to my car, and found it to be pretty straightforward.

The only wires I connected were:

Red - connected into the blue wire (AV System Power), adjacent to the Sat-Nav DVD drive.
Black - connected to the Ground stud by the passenger seat belt unit.
Grey (marked 'Rear') - connected to the reverse lights

AV1 - Connected to the video out of my Blackvue
Rear C - connected to the reverse camera.

Mode Switch - used to switch between the Sat-Nav display and the Blackvue input
Remote - used for setting up, then removed.

Apart from the GVIF connections, all other wires were ignored!

Hope this helps ...
 Regards,
Mick

Thanks spooky, that does help.

Unfortunately I get a fuse blow on either the car, or the inline fuse in the power harness each time I connect the power, even when only the Red and Black cables are connected, and nothing else.

Might have faulty unit Sad

Sounds like you have a fulty one if its blowing the fuse when only red & black wire connected., as Spooky has just pointed out fitting it is quite simple, the hard part is configuring the Dip switches.. I am very happy with mine its a great bit of kit.

Dip switches 5&6 up, if not successful swap the red and yellow wires in the LVDS in/out cable, there are two pairs, swap red to yellow as a pair and do both pairs, they pull out very easy by holding the plastic clip up with a tiny screwdriver.

It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

New V7

I have also just fitted one of these new versions with only the minimal wiring required. However it would be nice to know what these other wires are for, as like the first post says, the wiring on this one is very different to the supplied manual. Maybe there are some useful functions it can also do?
Is the software any different?
What are the differences between V6 and V7? Does anyone know?

Reversing lines

I have just discovered how to get reversing lines on my GVIF V7 with camera even though the box with the camera said this version has no lines Smile

Whilst in any screen that is output from the GVIF ie av1,2,3 press and hold the left button on the remote for >2secs. This will bring up a factory menu. Then go to Park Enable and turn the lines to "On" then to park set up to change the line positions.

Done
