There is a lot of info in the screen on the radio. Can anyone explain what some of it means?
I have just gone out to try it and was watching the different voltages as I started up the engine. That would be useful for the chaps with starting problems.A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. My blue voltmeter is just an ebay cheapie - a simple 12v LED voltmeter that plugs into the lighter socket. Even though they only cost a few quid measuring voltage is such a simple task they tend to be very accurate. They are handy to have in the glovebox to check the battery before trying to start a car that has not been used for a while, or to do alternator diagnostics whilst driving. Get one that reads to 2 decimal places for battery health analysis.
On the other hand the voltage displayed on the hidden menu is not to be trusted as it only has a 0.5v resolution and a 0.5v accuracy - so up to 1v of error which is pants when you are trying to check battery health. A lot of plug-in diagnostic tools also display an accurate voltage, as sensed by the ECM, which can be a handy diagnostic reference.

Interestingly, you can read the voltage via the IID tool - and presumably harkeye, MSV-2 as well, and that is to more decimal places - no idea if it is acccurate though, not checked it against my voltmeter Mark.

my fluke identical to robbies recently died... Replaced with a cheap newys piece of junk..... Sorry just felt i needed to moanDon’t worry it is supposed to sound like that...honest
remember that any digital meter "multiplexes"...it scans over periods & updates the display digitally
accordingly...it isn't a constant / real time display.
If you wanted this it would have to be a traditional analogue meter such as an AVO meter....old fashioned but the prefferd meter when you want to know its right.
Also.....most meters (digital) aren't that accurate say beyond 1 decimal place....if you want to know the accuracy you generally have to pay to have a calibrated meter.
......for the purpose of seeing what your vehicle is doing 1 decimal place is adequateBREXIT - done properly.

For voltage I really don't find that to be the case. For ohms, amps etc the difference between a quality product and a Chinese cheapie is like night and day but when measuring voltage the spread of readings is tiny. Our calibration regime is merciless and we have very expensive scopes and a variety of very expensive DMMs but even the junk can pass most voltage tests.

......but who the heck needs to measure a vehicles voltage to more than 0.1 volt ?
it aint going to a steady reading anyway & does it matter ifs its on the right side of charging ?BREXIT - done properly.
