What wheels should I have? 05 Disco 3 TDV6 S
Hi, I've recently bought a Disco 3 TDV6 S with 19" (standard looking) wheels. The car is really nice to drive but at 55mph there is a noticable wobble through the steering wheel.
I thought this was due to a wheel needing rebalanced so took it to my local tyre fitter. He has rebalanced all 4 wheels and swapped them over but still a wobble. My tyre fitter says that the wheels have been fitted with spacers and that the spigot from the hub doesnt reach the wheel to allow it to be properly located. Without the spacer the tyres rub on the arches. It had new tyres fitted recently by the previous owner at the stealer in Inverness and no issues were flagged up then about the wheels.
Is anyone able to help?

They should be 18" 5 spoke rims on an S model, as in pic below. Have you got pics of the ones fitted as it sounds as though a previous owner upgraded them.

They are range rover wheels and as far as I knew they didn't fit! If the centres don't mount properly you will never get them balanced correctly, your insurance might be an issue too unless you declare the modification.
If I were you I would ditch them ASAP! The tyres will probably be ok if they are 255/55/19 so rather than spend a fortune just search for some genuine D3 19" alloys with the right offset and centre spacing, you will not need spacers for these! Loads on eBay
See here for the styles that do fit (note the Tonga green one was mine, same car as in first pic I posted but with a few mods including 19" wheels that fit properly!)

Thanks CFB and J@mes. I'd actually started looking at a spare set of wheels so guess I'll have to get a wriggle on and get them! Hopefully I'll be able to sell the RR wheels and get some of the cost back.Dave Neil

if yours is a V 8 then these are OK without spacers. On the TDV6 these L322 Range Rover alloys foul the front brake calipers without spacers. You might be OK if you get some hubcentic spacers, but to be honest, you cant give those earlier RR 19's away (there's loads of them on ebay, fetching nothing at all), so I'd ditch them anyway.

Thanks for the response everyone.
I have a few options to consider but have an indy to speak to first as he may have a set of hub-centric spacers I can have. Failing that, and for the longer term, I'll probably change the wheels and have had a few offers of wheels to consider.Dave Neil
