2011 Autobild Winter tyre test. |
|
Seeing as it's 20C outside and I'm stuck at my desk shuffling paperwork around, I thought I'd post the results of the 2011 Autobild Winter Tyre Test
Here's the link:
http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/2011-...e-Test.htm
All the usual suspects are tested inc. the Vredestein Wintrac. The winner for the second year on the trot is the Dunlop Winter Sport 3D.
The last list (that I've seen) of winter tyres that Land Rover recommend for the D3/4 is:
Goodyear 255/55R19 Goodyear Ultra Grip
Continental 255/50R20 Cross Contact Winter

With October approaching fast and more queries about winter tyres being posted, I thought I'd bump this.
Here's a link to the BTMA site and their thoughts on winter tyre use. Good diagrams comparing winter v. summer tyre braking distances on wet and dry surfaces at different temperatures:

Hope it's of use

But first of all work out "IF" you need winter tyres at all.........sometimes a good "All Season" tyre or even a good "All Terrain" tyre will do what you want.
At the end of the day work out what is best for you and if I can be of any help please call me on 01737 241370 at work, always happy to talk rubber and help "you" choose what is best for "you".
