I believe there is a metal shield below the fuel tank. I'm stuggling to find this in the workshop manual I got off Ebay. Any suggestions as to how to remove it for cleaning and painting ? I can see some bolts but suspect some are hidden based on having car on the ground and not ramps.

The D3 version is held on by 6 bolts, they also hold the tank on! Joined the BMWX5 45e group
