D4 HSE Towbar Wiring
I'm ordering a D4 HSE
I have a detachable tow bar for my D3 but think 500 quid for one on the D4 is a bit steep.... I'm guessing if you don't though there will be no wiring ... but I think you do get the socket I can plug my existing bar into...
how hard / expensive is it to fit the wiring post delivery....
The parts bill will be less than half of that, like the D3 fitting is quite simple plugs and existing sockets behind LH rear light, I think in the D4 you have top tell the car that its there though so may need activating, but I'd guess a local member with a faultmate can do that Altox GSM FBH controller thread

The only difference in D3 & D4 kits is the initial loom from the back of the light unit that you then plug the twin 7 or single 13 socket looms into.
I got my hands on a cheap D4 set up without realising and then had to get the D3 initial loom, trying to swap the pins over made my head hurt so I gave up in the end and left the D4 bit in the box.
If you have existing electrics on your D3 you could just get the first loom, I have the part number on it in the garage somewhere Altox GSM FBH controller thread

Hey, for £500, I'll come down, fit new electrics and tow bar!
Seriously, it might be slightly fiddley, but dead easy really. I've got a new LR D4 13 pin kit if your interested. It doesn't matter if you install 13 or 7 pin, you can get adapters for either if required for a fiver.
Can you pm the price for the 13 pin kit please?

£400 fitted!
Honestly, it's not that bad to fit. If you don't know anywhere to get it enabled, I can recommend Cavendish Motors at Chesterfield - excellent Indi (mine's there at the moment for service). IIRC it was about £30 to have the towing electrics enabled. Oh, by the way, your D3 towbar will fit the D4 if you didn't already realise?
