Hello
following problem is really starting to annoy me
when slowing down to stop I get a repetetive clunking noise which seems to come from down under drivers seat /front wheel - same when accelerating - not at driving speed/or bumps....
under full load (4-5 passengers +) it is getting louder...
ARB??
dampers? how to check??
any other ideas??
thx for answering some

Hi,
also had some clunking/knocking noise from the front that was getting louder and more frequent in the last couple of weeks. The "clunk" was the loudest when driving down an hill and then turning into a street. The LR people were not really sure what it was. Reading through this forum I thought the front ARBs and/or lower steering shaft are the most likely candidates. I changed the front ARB bushes myself last weekend and the clunk is gone!! Since I ordered the steering shaft and rear ARB bushes as well, I will change them anyway.
Anyway, my vote goes to the front ARB bushes. There is an excellent DIY guide in the wiki section. Not that difficult with the right set of tools (breaker bar, low profile socket, ratchet spanner and dish washing liquid). The bushes are only 30 GBP (+ 1,50 for new nuts). So it might be worth a try.
Regards
Lars

..that what I hope it is
since I'm busy with installing my new winch and some more spotlights
(which will take next weekend I believe ) the clunking has to wait a little....
I'll report when I'm done with it.... some
