HDC Fault + Air bag light on (Low Battery ?)

Hi,

Sorry this had to be myfirst post but I just bought my D3 on Saturday and already have an issue. Been enjoying every minute of it up until now.

So on saturday I had the radio on whilst cleaning and the battery went dead, (2 hours radio on)so after jump starting from my wifes fiesta Big Cry It was all good.

Now not driven all week due to work comminments and started it this morning and I get : hdc fault -systems not available + airbag light.

After doing som research online I put the hdc down to being battery low, so I took it out on a 10 minute run and this solved the problem.

However the airbag light is still on and dont know how to get it off. It comes on then goes out. 2 seconds later it bleeps and stays on all the time.

Any help would be great. Away to order a new bosch battery.

cheers Very Happy

A 10 minute run wont give the vehicle a good charge.

I recomend getting a Ctek charger and leave overnight.

The airbag fault might need clearing with a diagnostic computer.

I would recomend BBS FCR as a good investment for future issues.

Without reading the fault codes its hard to if you would have to change the battery.

Airbag light post-cleaning - pretty common!

It takes no time at all to kill a D3 battery whilst cleaning as the car pulls serious amps - those who have & those who will. But the airbag light has nothing to do with the voltage. My guess is that you moved the seat to the limit of travel to aid your cleaning and that has disturbed the cables under the drivers seat. Checking these would be my starter for ten.

Hi

I cleaned on Saturday and used all day Sunday and the problem has only appeared today at the same time as the hdc fault problem.

Just been out and checked the seat everything fine. Are you sure that a flatbattery wont through the airbag light. Just googled "flat battery + airbag light " and it seems they go hand in hand on some cases.

thanks for the replys

Not seen low voltage trigger an airbag light on a D3, but you never know!

Seen plenty airbag lights triggered by disturbed cables under the seat though. If these are all fine then you will need to get your codes read to help track it down as there are a lot of SRS components on the D3.

recall finished in Dec 2011 for MY05/06 - if yours is later then worth speaking to LR customer care quoting the service action before speaking to the dealer Thumbs Up
