Got into car tonight to drive home from Winchester when the radio, satnav, cd player etc had no sound whatsoever...........pulled over turned ignition off then restarted car still nothing 
Once home I turned off locked up and returned to the car 15 mins later and it now works 
Anyone experienced this before or Know what may have happened or what I may have invertedly done?

I cant believe no one else has experienced this, may be there is a underlying fault which will come back and bite me soon...........

could be a component getting hot, when it went off did you check under the seat to see if the amp was still on etc, or it had possibly turned its self off.

I didnt know there was an amp under the seat just a DVD player i thought.....is this player a combined amp to or is there more equipment under the drivers seat?

yours is a HSE so I guess you have the HK system, this will have the amp under the drivers seat, dvd under pax seat, the head unit does not contain any amplification etc, its all linked together through MOST cables (fibre optics)
Think if there is no sound, and all items are on you should check the amp out, but also just get all the fault codes read also, as that could show the issue.

OK - thanks i wasnt aware that the amp was there ( yes it is a HK system) i will check the wiring to ensure there are no loose connections or damaged cables. As you are knowledgeable in this area, I take it then that there is aux inputs on this amp and that is where the addittional hardware would run to (TV tuner, DVD player etc) or do they go direct to the sat nav screen inputs?

If you want to keep it factory then you can extend the most circuit to include the RSE etc and TV on to the circuit, if you want aftermarket I think you need to use a gvif and connect that up to the display, and then use the aux inputs for the sound.

Check your BATTERY, a low charged or dying battery plays havoc with the LR's electronic gizmos.
If you already have a new battery or the charge is good, check your tail-light bulbs....Have you replaced them recently ? Only use OEM replacement bulbs.

Yes bud its quite common if the leave it for an hour or so does not work then hard reset will, its just a LR thing...

Same thing happened to me tonight. Got in car after work so disco had been sitting for 8hours & no sound. Worked in the morning & no kids in the back so shouldn't be any loose cables.
Stop car & switched engine off after leaving car park but no joy so drove the 20mins home & stopped to pick up kids. Got back in & hey presto it was working fine again.
One thing I did notice was that the Sat Nav screen just sat at the 'Land Rover' screen & never went past that so was wondering if it could be more to do with that rather than amps etc?...............reboot certainly helped

Not noticed this thread before, but I had this happen a few times on my 55 plate D3 HSE, always cured itself if let it go to sleep for a hour. Finally cured by the dealer updating the software. This was in the first year of ownership of the D3, it never happened again and I owned if for a further 4.5 years.
