Hi all, I have a problem with the offside wing mirror on my 07 D3, it is juddery when opening/closing suggesting a touch of lubrication is required - problem, how the hell do you get into it to add a little light oil or molyslip to cure the problem?
I have had a good look around and cannot see any screws, etc to remove and trying to unclip the housing seems to be a bad idea, internal trim does not seem to be the way in aither - don't want to break it but it does not want to come off?
Any suggestions?
Thank you in anticipation,
Dog. Its all in the grip of the Tyre Fitters hand!

You need to get the glass out and then you should be able to at least WD some part of the pivot mechanism. The main problem will be get the glass off without breaking it. It has to come out at the bottom and then upwards - Good Luck!!

If you push rotate the mirror, obviosly gently all the way as far as it will 'rotate' you will be a ble to see the metal parts of the pivot and squirt a little spray grease Never get mad - get even !!

Thanks for the tips guys. Have tried moving the glass around manually but that does not seem to allow any access to the mechanism but I will have another look. As for removing the glass I'll investigate that one and see if I can do it without being too ham fisted
There must be a right way as it was assembled originally but I guess they are built off the vehicle as a component and fitted assembled?
Anyone got a Haynes with the info in it?

push the mirror out as far as it will go, ie past its normal position - you can then squirt some lubriacant or what ever you want to use in the mechanism Duncan

Big help, thanks
My mirrors were struggling to fold and unfold, pushed them all the way towards the front of the car which gives access to the pivot, a quick squirt of lube and all is well again.
Cheers
