Does anyone have these in the Bristol/Bath area that I could borrow over the weekend please? Andy

You can use a 'standard' viscous fan spanner, and extend the length (and leverage) using a suitable bar (long chiesel) and cable ties

One of these would do the job

The likes of Halfrauds usually have them on the shelf Never get mad - get even !!

06 D3 now gone to family member and still going strong at 265k

you can get it off with out the special tools - just like you can lift the engine without spending £200 on the "special" land rover lifting cradle !! Duncan

Job done! I estimate it took less tan an hour end to end. All went really well until I connected up the aux battery and the split charge relay went up in a puff of smoke! I've been jumping the car from the aux battery so it must have been quite depleted. The gulp of current must have been too much for the relay. I'm replacing with a 200A jobby.

Some comparisons between old and new alternators. Spot the difference!
