I appear to have lost the ability to use the POI function on my MY12, anyone had a similar problem? Have consulted the handbook and can't find reference to anyhting that I might have inadvertently done, is it a dealer job?

Yep- it's happened to me more than once, but afraid I can't quite remember how I fixed it.
Seem to recall it needed a lot of button selection on the second options screen of the "Nav Menu". It's easy to push the NAV POI button to OFF by mistake, then oddly re-pushing does not make it come back ON (It's an LR thing!!)
I think you need to push the Nav SetUp button then fiddle with "quick POI" or "User SetUp" button which appears on the next screen. I'm not risking it to check it in case I bu er mine up again
Otherwise might be a case of RTFM
Hope that helps a bit

I'll have another fiddle Blue, and let you know.
Might be worth a quick call to the Dealer as well.

Just had a thought Blue - ALL POI's will not display if you have the MAP SCALE set too small. Must be no SMALLER than 1/2 mile ( i.e. 1/32, 1/16, 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 but above this no good) zoom scale. If you set it to show a larger area on the screen any POI's you have selected just won't display.
Otherwise maybe try a the "Restore Sytem Defaults" from the Nav menu. You will loose any saved destinations but that's easy enough to re do.

Unfortunately I still can't get POI to turn on, so it will be a trip to the dealer although I'm in no rush. Thanks for your help Dinsdale, I do appreciate your efforts.

two occasional issues with the satnav
sometimes it takes ages to initialise when starting it up, you can be 10 miles in the wrong direction before it sorts itself out..
when seeking to programme in Postcodes, the letters on the screen aren't highlighted, which stops any inputting,
And why is the default country Belgium, I mean, BELGIUM...

Try looking in the Nav menu screen 2 "Map POI off"
Quote:Map POI off: Turns the POI (Point Of
Interest) icons on the map on/off.
or
Quote:QUICK POI SELECTION
Touch the Map screen to display the POI
button. Touch the POI (Point of interest)
button. The screen shows six suggested
categories, five of which can be selected as
quick points of interest.
Note: The POI icons will not be shown if the
map zoom level is greater than 1 km (½ mile).
Select a Quick POI category, or select More to
see further POIs. Touch OK to confirm a
selection.
The map screen with the POI icon(s) is
displayed. Select the five POIs you wish to see
when the Quick POIs are displayed 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I have followed all of that DG, the second screen shows the POI icon but it is dimmed and no amount of pressing will bring it back. The car will need its first service in a couple of months and I will have it dealt with then, including a rear window rattle that's driving me mad. I appreciate your responses.

I have reset the satnav, if that's what you mean, losing saved locations into the bargain and it didn't cure it.

No Blue thats not what I meant a Hard reset is where you remove both battery leads from the battery and join the battery leads together with a half inch socket extension bar or similar tool for about 2 mins this resets the system and kicks it back in to shape.

Might ask Mrs Blue to carry out this procedure on the basis that she misses POI more than me, will let you know how she gets on. Cheers mate.

Believe or not just after I gave up trying to help Blue sort it out I bu ered mine up at the weekend when she understood the voice command of guidance off as POI off
As I said before DG, the POI OFF on page 2 of Nav Menu options ONLY switches it OFF. It will NOT switch it back on. It's another LR thing
However there is a way, which took me about 17 hours of trial and error to discover. It will take several instalments so please set your video recorders!!! Here goes:-
1) Start Satnav with engine running and bring up your local area map at 1/4 mile scale.
2) Enter Browse Mode on the map screen by press and hold any part of the map for about 2 seconds - a box appears in middle left edge of screen with "Cancel Browse Mode" AND you should have two or three new boxes along the top "Point of Interest" and "Set Favourite and "Set Destination"
3) Push "Point of Interest" which should take you to a new screen called QUICK POI. This has a small black box at the top which will be empty and below a list of Six preselected POIs, petrol station, parking, hotels, hospital, restaurants etc.
4) You will also see three box switches at the bottom with a blacked out "POI OFF", a lit "More", and a lit "Local POI List"
5) Now select ANY of upto FIVE of the main central Box switch choices and the appropriate hyroglyph of your choices will appear in the originally empty Top black box PLUS, MIRACLE OF MIRACLES, the bottom left "POI OFF" box will now be LIT and the POI's you selected turn Orange.
6) Hit "OK" and after a worrying blanking out of all you have just done, you should get a black over-screen saying "Selected POI's displayed on map". And Bob's your Uncle
Now go out and buy a convenient small calibre pistol with silencer and kill anybody who even remotely looks like touching the "POI OFF" switch on page 2 of the Nav Menu screen.
Hope that solves it. You can also fiddle with the Quick POIs selected, but you need to be a fully qualified Professor of Rocket Science, like me, before you even consider going there (you do it through the "MORE" button if you have a PhD)
