Enabling cruise control in Kent & other useful functions |
|
Hi,
I'm hoping to be fitting cruise control. Hopefully this'll be within the next couple of weeks. I was wondering who in Kent or surrounding areas are able to enable it?
And, while that's done are there any other useful bits that can be enabled? I've just got a basic GS, no SAT screen etc.
Thanks,
Daniel

Is it just simply buy a switch from Rimmer Bros (example) Part No.: XPD500830. Take the blank plate off the my stearing wheel, on my 05 Disco, plug the switch in and hay presto, it works? Or is there a bit more to it

get it from Nick (site sponsor, TLO, or The Large one) and its normally cheaper as he gives a healthy discount to disco3 members.

Hi,
It seems i've done a similar thing to dsj1979 & Mini, in that I've obtained a cruise control switch from e-bay, but i'm struggling to fit it.
I've undone the two torx screws at the rear of the steering wheel, and have tried to persuade the existing switch unit out, but it's refusing to budge.
Is there a trick i'm missing, or am I being a complete plum...?
Then, assuming one of you good people can tell me how to get the 'old' switch out, I'm assuming that fitting the new switch is just a matter of pushing it into place and doing up the two screws is it??
I note from other peoples posts that things need 'enabling'...?
Can somebody come down to my level and explain the goings-on with this modern LR electrickery...?
Does this mean that every time I fiddle with the thing I'm gonna have to take it in to a LR main dealer to have it plugged into a (no doubt very expensive! ) computerlaptopamebob to make it work...?
To wit; I'm intending on fitting a towbar & associated wiring at some stage (if I can find one that's not made of gold bullion & painted black, as most of the ones on e-bay seem to be, if the prices they're fetching are to be believed! )
Does it need plugging in to tell it there's a towbar fitted so that the additional wiring works? or that the air suspension needs to take account of the extra loading on the tow bar?
These seem like daft questions, but if ya don't know, ya don't know - and I don't know! So here I am, asking.
Any assistance will be very gratefully received.
Feeling like a fish out of water at the moment! (yes, i know its a sheep - couldn't find a fish!)
Thanking you in advance for your assistance.
Regards,
Gobbler

Have u got aur bag off b4 fitting switch without it will not come out.
Tow bar check out dealer prices then you will think ebay is cheep
On a d3 it will plug in an work, you can tell the body control that you have towbar fitted and that will do a couplemof othwr items but will work fine if just put on.

Er... no, haven't taken the air bag off..... looks like i'm needing a technicalthingamebob to undo the 3-holed screws at the rear of the steering wheel, do I?? (nuthin's ever simples! I'm gonna skin that bloody Meerkat...! ) If it has TIT's or WHEEL's it will cause you problems!!

Just go to U tube as race.it says, there a good bit on removal the steering wheel. It took me 10 min's to fit the switch. Don't forget to disconect the battery though for a good 1/2 hour before attempting to remove the airbag.
