Servicing & Modding Advice Needed. |
|
My Disco has the walnut dash fitted and I'm looking to either replace or cover/spray it, do you think it's be better to just remove the walnut and sell it or have it painted/wrapped? I've seen a company that sells a black gloss dash package for £130, does anyone have a rough idea what the walnut dash would be worth?
As per my wanted thread, is there any forum members that have changed up from 19"s to 20"s and been pleased with the results? I understand that, by definition, 4x4's can be soft and wobbly, but I'm hoping to 'stiffen' the motor up a bit.
Bought a pair of side steps at the weekend, so they're going to be fitted Friday along with a service.
It's done 126k and when I buy a new (to me) vehicle I always have a full engine service done, is there anything above and beyond the usual that I should look for?
Thanks again, I've found this forum very good for advice and plenty of previous threads have helped me, no end.

If its the newer walnut dash that comes as a complete replacement along with the air vent covers then you will be able to sell it quickly as the price for these shot up a few years back. If its the older type that simply sticks to the original "H" trim and air vents then you will not get as much for it, even though it cost £420 back in 2006

Unnecessary quote removed
It's on a 2005 HSE. I've not been able to suss out how to upload photos just yet to show you.
It's the dash around the radio/control buttons and the side vents.

I've seen a set of Overfinch Tiger(?) alloys on the bay of e, they are 22" though, did they make them in 22s because all the others seem to be 20s?

Be very wary of replica wheels. Not all, but a lot of them are made with sub-standard alloy, and they may not be as strong as they need to be.
It wouldnt be the first time I have seen buckled/cracked wheels. Bigger wheels also tend to accelerate wear on suspension components My D3 Build Thread

Check whether the 105K service has been done and the belts have been changed.
I believe you bought a forum members D3 so it probably has been done, but
always good to make sure.
Perhaps previous owner could confirm even.

It was the D3 owned by Dutchgeordiez, the cambelt was done at around 100k iirc.
I think I'll just give the car a full engine service, then at least I know it's all been done.

You can get the Overfinch tigers in 20" or 22". Personally I prefer the 20" wheels because they are a good compromise between external looks and driveability. I agree with Disco Mikey the 22" can cause premature where of the suspension and crack very easily. Do you plan on using the vehicle for anything other than the usual motorways and normal roads?
