It took me 3.5 Hours to do this route.

http://goo.gl/maps/1XFm

Needless to say, I tried every route north in that time, eventually ending up in Burger King at Washington for 20 mins until the A1 started crawling forward.

Tyne Tunnel Shut Both Ways (actually filled up with water)
Newcastle Station closed, queueing north east mianline north and south
Metro Centre Evacuated.

A1 Southbound shut at the Metrocentre due to a swmming pool.

....all due to a little bit of water Big Cry

Luckily I was not out driving in the storm as at its peak I had water flooding into the garage and utility room and me, my daughter and a neighbour were frantically trying to clear the water so it didn't get in the house. Luckily we got away with just water ingress into the porch Crying or Very sad We had thunder, lightening, torrential rain, wind, hailstones and a tsunami Wink to deal with I have never seen anything like it in my lifetime.

I had to go to the airport at 0430 this morning and although there is no water left there is abandoned cars everywhere and the road through Rowlands Gill resembled a dirt track Shocked

Here is a link to a video that was shared on facebook last night

Hopefully you don't have to be logged in to see it

Ian glad you did not get water in the house it is a f Censored Censored to say the least. I have been out with the big red lorry on numerous occasions to help people and pump their houses out and it leaves a mess. On a slightly diffrnet note, we can no longer be called out for flooding in a house, the brigade I work for will not come out to flooding, you have to say that the flood water is affecting the electrics to get assistance from us now, might be worth remebering if you ever suffer flooding in the future as many brigades are now following the same pattern

Well done Euan, commendable... If i had seen anyone in distress I would have got out (but I was in my suit Embarassed )

In Washington it looked like a traffic police ovolv was stuck in a puddle and the bobby was shin deep in the roundabout...

...a 40' container artic decided to play the pratt and go through the deepest part at about 40 showering people, until aforementioned bobby was spotted and he may have muddied the water a little Laughing

All good fun in the Disco, but it must have been terrifying for anyone in a eurobox desperate to get home Sad

I was in Loughborough yesterday and I've never ever seen anything like it in the UK ...it was like the end of the world.

Loughboro's like that all the time, nothing to do with the weather.........
A common mistake made when trying to come up with a totally foolproof design is to completely underestimate the innate ingenuity of fools.
