Advice on Disco 3 front suspension arms
Hi
Looking for advice on front lower suspension arms I have a disco3 08 24000 miles and the front arms are knocking when i hit bumps on the road
Been told disco4 arms are fitted with better bushes is this the case and if so are they compatable with my car??or should i go down the route off polybushes or just stick with disco3 arms.
Thanks in advance LeeD3 Se TDV6 Auto Bonatti Grey

It's very likely to only be your lower ball joints that are worn or possibly the track rod ends or . . . track rod inner ends(but at only 24k)
I'd go to your 'local' dealer and ask very nicely that they change them under 'warranty', if that doesn't work I'd then have a very big paddy, hopefully when folk in the showroom are looking at buying a new one - it might work (nothing to lose for trying) Never get mad - get even !!
06 D3 now gone to family member and still going strong at 265k

I know you are a salvage expert these days but are you questioning my knowledge
Maybe stronger is the wrong word. I should have said better bushes. Disco_Mickey gave me this knowledge...

Also I've been told that Lower suspencion arms LR029304 & LR029306 (RRsport ones) do fit into Disco 3 (D3 part nos LR028245 & LR028249) and actually are sturdier....
what's your opinion??
cheers
The arms are the same, but the Sport arms have heavy duty bushes. They are actually the same as an armoured Disco 3
RRS v D3/4 arms look the same to me, although do have a different part number.

I have changed just about everything on the front of mine including both lower arms and track rods etc. After about 20-30k the knocking is coming back already. Just waiting for it to get a little worse before I start spending again.
If you do change the arms or track rods, make sure you get the alignment calibrated. NOT just a tracking check, these babies need a full 4 wheel computer alignment, on a proper machine. There's plenty of threads on here about that, but don't be conned by someone with a 4 wheel laser tracker. Its not the same job, and there's no lasers on the proper machine.D3 TDV6 HSE 2008 Buckingham Blue (current)

Not questioning, just wondering why they would be stronger - thought perhaps they were reinforced for mouting high pavement at high speed Duncan

I used Superpro bushes and they are great as a replacement for the oil filled OEM bush. Also worth replacing the lower steering bush (£57 from TLO) this eradicated the clonk through the steering on rough surfaces.

I always replace D3 arms with D4 arms as the bushes are better and the part is cheaper...

Where does the lower steering bush live? & is there a 'how to' anywhere?
(I know, must learn to use the search function!)

Notice you are from Glasgow! there's your reason your bushes are knacked. I obught my disco from down south and was good as new, one year after driving around glasgow and beasden/east dunbartonshire roads bushes were knacked and needed replacing. Think its just our crappy roads
