Remap Question.

I am considering a remap for my D3, but to some extent this is a bit of a theoretical question.

What happens to the existing engine map when I select "Sport" mode on the Auto Gearbox?

Does that select a different engine map that already exists in the D3, or does it do something else.

It would be nice for me to have a fuel efficient map on normal mode and a towing map on the sport mode.

Regards,
Steve

Not sure with the D3, but i believe this usually this just affects the gear change points to make the car feel more responsive by keeping it in the power band.

Tr is not affected by a remap, as these are totally separate program's . (so I am told)
 Now Renault Trafic
D4 gone
D3 gone

Certainly on my remap it doesn't revert back to standard in Sports mode with SPs off. Would make interesting overtaking if it did. Shocked Shocked Change to a different mode then it's standard mapping. Thumbs Up

It does nothing to the engine map, torque or power, as standard

A remap will not give you this so you would notice that much difference..

When I discussed this with Pete Bell via email some time ago, the "MAP" standard or otherwise, is the basis for all TR programs including sport.

In general, the TR modes, just alter diff locking settings, gear change points and how quick/slow the box changes up and the throttle response.

If that were true then sand mode would be really nice, but it actually makes a remapped car seem slow.

Sand mode works as I would expect - throttle response is quicker which IMHO is why it works.

But in a Torq Tune'd car sand mode feels very slow, with a slower response Confused

Had a chat with TFC re this and the TT map is only in SPs Off mode. Doesn't apply to the other modes, they are as standard. Thumbs Up

So, if I can check out my understanding.

Sport mode uses the new engine map, but simply changes the gear change points etc.

Shame, I was hoping I could get 2 engine maps on the Disco and then swap between the two by selecting Sport/Normal.

OK, well thanks. Plenty of good advice here.

Regards,
Steve

I am sure that this question was asked a while back and Pete Bell said that in theory, there was no reason why this could not be done, but I have never heard any more about it. Thumbs Up
