Goodyear MTR damage
Just noticed one of my MTRs is damaged ,what do you chaps reckon ?,should I still keep it on the D4 or not ? ,the tyres do say Duratec Puncture Resistant Technology ?

No Del ,tbh it looks worse in that pic than it does after doing afew miles on it,it is sticking out more in the pic cause I stuck my finger nail in it to see how deep it was

For me, it's a bit close to the shoulder so would prob relegate it to underneath. Others may think it's just a minor flesh wound & OK.

Personally I wouldn't run with that, Tyres are all that keep you on the road at the end of the day, if the sidewall is weakened and it goes pop while you're going round a corner.....
Risk may be low, but you could reduce that risk further by fitting a new tyre, shame to (worst case) write off a 40K vehicle for want of a tyre.
Once when I was less old I damaged the sidewall and it looked similar to yours, I, being a poor student, filled the cracks with superglue and blended it in with shoe polish for the MOT, it was fine for a month or two but the tyre burst half way round a roundabout. I count myself lucky to not have the chance to not make the same mistake again.
Just my opinion, the descision is up to you really. I will be interested to see what others think.

See if you can find a local company that does vulcanised repairs for truck tyres and send them that pic. They may ge able to save it, but looking at the damage to the left in the picture, I think you're looking at the risk of the tyre delaminating. Me, I'd bin it.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
It's a write off i think. The damage is on the side, nobody will repair this even it might be possible from the technical view. Get a new one for your (and others !) security.

From the picture the damage doesn't look to bad bit I would probably swap it with a rear or if possible follow Del's advice and sling it underneathClub Exped trailer

If theres any doubt in your mind then swap it for the spare .....but I ran with a sidewall slit caused by flint on an MTR for about 10k ...nowhere near the cords ...had it checked by a pro and it went to Morocco and back OK. 3 tones, 80 mph - that's a lot of momentum if that goes bang. I would scrap it and replace. Wouldn't be going anywhere on that.
