Battery light intermittent

Hi ....

My battery light comes on and goes off a little randomly.

I checked the voltages -
Engine off - 12.5V'ish
Shortly after start - 14V'ish

It has no trouble starting ... the battery is quite new (about 9months), the alternator seems to be producing around the right voltage ...

Any ideas please??

Thanks
Rob

Not right for a D3, ISTR running output is 15.4V if healthy. Might be borderline hickie.

I'm non techie, best let others chip in their 56p worth, but it was my first thought. Not uncommon.

vote for alternator - good news is yer slowing killing the battery and when that goes, so does drive, transmission, windows, power steering etc etc, which is not a happy experience when trying to get to the hardsholder on the motorway Whistle Big Cry

best get into the dealers as soon as Thumbs Up

Mine did this a few months ago. Diode pack in the alternator on the way out. Mrs said the car had a burning smell at the same time. Easy enough to replace, but you'll need a viscous fan spanner.
