SAT NAV intermittant
My Sat NAV, 2008 D is playing up, intermittant says not navigation disc , have changed the disc for a new one, when it does work it is slow to respond to touch commands.
I have used a DVD cleaner still the same.
Are they any known simple cures , software etc or does any one have a used DVD head for sale ?

Mine was doing this - sent it back to the dealer I bought it from who sent it on to a specialist to be repaired. They're needing to change the laser drive unit or something, should hopefully be back some time this week.

SAT navs
I mend LCD TVS for a living, when pressed I will repair BLu ray DVds, changing the laser is childs play, getting hold of the correct one might be more dfifficult.
If any one has a unit that is faulty and out of the car, I will gladly look into finding a suitable laser and replacing it
I buy parts from China every day.
I suspect the hard part will be getting it out from under the seat!
Any instructions on how to do that ?

easiest way is to remove the seat, the DVD unit is then easy to get out Duncan

Actually all you need to do is move the passenger seat all the way forward and undo four screws. They're quite awkwardly placed so you need to select the right driver combination (I did it with a ratchet and driver bit which made it easy), but it was only about two minutes work once I found the right tools (isn't that always the way? )

Update: repaired drive now returned and works perfectly
The repair work was carried out by Central Services in Ipswich (www.centralservicescaraudio.co.uk). Bill came to a total of £418.80!! I'm very glad I didn't have to pay it (covered by the dealer I bought from).
