Help with T-Max Split Charge System
Wondering if anyone has had this issue?
Fitted the system this week and the battery tonight. All fitted to correct guidelines.
Main battery showing 13.5 - 14 Volts and showing this on the T Max LED reader.
Aux Battery is showing 13 volts with a meter when ignition off and over 14 volts with engine running.
The issue is that the Aux Battery is not showing any reading at all on the reader so not sure if I've received a faulty one. Or, is there something I'm doing wrong???
The reader seems to work fine when I press the display button, it all lights up

I would think that this system will not show the voltage on the aux battery until the system is charging it as it separates both batteries try flattening the aux battery and then see if it switches over to give you a reading.

Thanks Flack,
All too complicated, the instructions say that it should show the state of the 2 batteries but doesn't say anything about what you've said. I'll try using it for a while to reduce the charge.
Do you think I would need to fully flatten it or would below 75 or 50% do??

Just try disconnecting the main battery and see if it then clicks over to the aux battery..and gives you a reading. but it wont charge the aux battery until the main one is fully charged.

I'll give it a go, the main battery is fully charged, it was showing a reading of 14v but you may be right. The yellow top may need to receive a charge signal before showing anything on the monitor.
I'll run something off it tomorrrow and let you know!

Flack,
Here's a couple of photos of what the meters are reading
This is the meter when the engine is running -

And this is the meter when the ignition is off and the display button pushed -

I think what was wrong was I was expecting the state of the 2 batteries to show when the engine was running but the meter only goes upto 12.8V for the Aux Bat and it's clearly more than that when the engine is running.
I plugged the fridge in for a while and the 2 batteries showed a reading while the ignition was on for a while then I reverted to the main battery only.
I'm assuming this must be normal?
Cheers

Yes bud because both battery's are fully charged the display is correct as they are over 12.8 volts..So when you drain one the display will change depending on amount discharged..

Cheers Flack,
I ran the fridge all day and that's exactly what happened, it showed the 2 battery readings as it had discharged slightly. Happy Chappy now!
My next question is that I have an old 12V Inverter that my Dad gave me a while back. I don't know what the wattage is though. It has a 25 amp fuse in the back of it and I have added a new marine plug on the end of the cable as it was a bit dodgy, it has a built in 25amp glass fuse as well.
What kind of things can I run off this without blowing the fuses -
Phone Chargers?
Kettle?
Toaster?
Hair Dryer? (for SWMBO not me)

25A fuse means it will blow at 300W power.
It's probably rated for half that. I reckon it will be a 150W inverter.
Will probably NOT run any of the accessories you mention, except for the phone charger Dennis

I agree with nighthawk it will run phone charger and charge a laptop and run a small cool box, but the simple answer is try it out on some other things with some spare fuses on hand and see what it can handle..

Cheers Guys,
Any suggestions would be appreciated of kit that you may have used that's fit for some of the things above. I guess I'm looking for something a bit more heavy duty.
If I go for something more heavy duty, is the yellow top fit for this. I think the cable I've run from the battery is rated 110 amp and then it splits to smaller cables at 27amp?
