Hi Lunar,

Now that would be a handy document for everyone. I'm not sure how to post it on the forum though.
I'll see if I can figure it out and get back to you.
Thank you for responding too. Much appreciated. Very Happy

Anyone reading this able to enlighten us? Question

If you check my gallery there are a list of TB's including the water issue.
I've had this problem at the very beginning when I had my lr3.

Here's some help when it eventually stops raining.

Park the car on an incline and open the sunroof. Get a small watering can and slowly pour water into the sunroof drain rails. They are easy to spot. Pour slowly and you should see a pool of water in front of the rear wheels. Do the same on the otherside. The water should flow just as fast as you pour. If all is ok, reverse the car up the incline and retest the front drain holes in the sunroof using the same method. Again, it should flow just as fast as you can pour the water into the drain rails. Water will appear just behind the front wheels, agin do the other side. I used a step ladder to get up when I tested mine. If water flows at all 4 corners, it's not your sunroof tubes.

Water from the a pillars can be because one or two plastic clips have snapped off the trim and no longer protecting the hole. Water can get into these holes, down the a pillar and pool at the lowest point. You will need to pull off your A pillar trims to check. You will need to buy the last clip when refitting, it doesn't refit. Costs nothing.

Lastly, check you cowl as mentioned earlier here. Also check you cabin filter to see if it's wet. Mine was and this was where my water leak was coming from. When I park n an incline, water gets in between the cowl and th windscreen and straight into the fresh air intake. It then flows straight onto my cabin filter and then through the glove box to the floor. Quality!

If you remove the cowl and the cabin filter, you can see daylight. It's a flaw! I'll post pics later

Hi Bullhead,

That's one load of good info. I've still to sort out the problem.
When it's not raining I always seem to have other stuff I need to do first.
I'd decided, when I eventually get round to it, to check everything that can leak water into the footwells.
Do it once and not have to do it again .................... Hopefully!
Thanks for the tips, mi IPad will be right there when I get started and I'll post the issues on here when I'm done.
All the best from ( a very wet ) Scotland Confused
Dave

Water in the passanger foortwell and those pesky drains

Picked up an 05 HSE a couple of weeks ago and guess what? The passenger footwell is a pool. Read Grahams excellent thread about sunroof drains and decided to take down headlining. No probs, found the drain pipe but couldn't blow or rod it through, so decided to bite the bullet and take the inner wing lining out to get to the bottom of the pipe. I must be a numpty!! How do you get the plastic retaining clips hold the inner wing to the body without damaging them? Prised two off and reckon I'm going to have to use M8 bolts to replace those two clips. Any advice gratefully recieved. Tim Bow down

Tim,
You really do not need to get to the end of he pipes. The nearside one is very difficult to get to and you need to loosen the front wing as well as quite a bit of trim removal. Read this thread from top to bottom and in particular my input. All the info you req is on this and other threads written by me. make sure you lift the carpets and sound deadening as your main front to back wiring loom and connecters will be submerged in water at the moment which, if not sorted, will blow all sorts of electrickery costing four figures to rectify!!!!

Steve, thanks for the reply and I'm glad I stopped when I did after reading your description of the nearside front. I think I've cracked it and amazingly my Mother-in Law came to the rescue (not that I'll tell her). She gave me a two cylinder foot pump years ago and with the associated adaptors I managed a Heath Robinson set up to blow through the line, drains OK now. Mop up started, carpet sopping underneath but cable channel not holding water even though I did hear some sloshing when I first picked the car up. Maybe someone has done your mod?? I will monitor regularly. Cheers. Thumbs Up

Hi everyone,
Finally have sorted out my water leak. It was the 'A' pillar trim retainers several were damaged and allowing water ingress. The passenger side was the same but to a lesser extent. These are well worth checking out if your footwells are filling up. Just have to wait for the carpets to dry out properly now.
Thank you to everyone who offered advice, it's very much appreciated. The perpetual rain this year made this difficult to deal with, for me, as I was unable to get the car under cover.
Thank you all again, so much Bow down Bow down
