A while ago on 5th Gear they ran an article about garages opening where you could hire ramp and tool time by the hour. Has anyone actually used one of these places? Does anyone know if any still or do exist???? The ramp hire would certainly be useful but I cannot see how they could get the business all past todays health and safety laws and requirements????

I have used this place occasionally. They have a couple of mechanics around for when you (inevitably) mess it up. Didn't appear to be any H&S! VIN: A175A328***

Found one near Coventry that charges £10 per hour for ramp hire and £5 per hour for tool hire.

Nothing specific yet. But it would be handy to have somewhere local if the need to do easy jobs like discs and pads, oil changes etc. Also. I have some side steps to put on. I guess I am getting fussy, (some would say grumpy!), in my old age. I have spent far too much time crawling underneath cars,

Defo grumpy, bear with sore @rse springs to mind. As for the side steps, put it in off road height and you don't roll under the car, 1/2 hr even for a numb nut like you.
You are always welcome to do it here , we even provide tea and butties, well Julie does.

There's a mobile one also...
You could rent it out to people and recuperate some of the cost
I'll only charge 10% commission on each rental for the idea
