| rear wiper fail- how fix please |

my D3 rear wiper goes about a quarter way up one wipe then stops. So there's power getting to it when switched on and the motor does something....but not much. If I turn it off and on I get about an extra inch of wipe- like the motor tries to push it on but doesn't get it anywhere.
Can anyone tell me what the cause is and how to fix please?

it was just a strip down, clean and lube- had been blasted with too much salt spray in the winter I think 1st Defender 90 200Tdi 2nd Discovery 1 300Tdi 3rd Discovery 2 TD5 GS 4th Discovery 3 TDV6 S 5th Skoda Superb 4x4- says it all...
