Caravan with LED's
Does anyone have a similar combination to mine, i.e. D4 with a caravan with LED's at the back. If so, are you able to overcome the problem of the car not recognising that it is coupled to a trailer and as a result the reversing alarms going off every time, the trailer repeater on the dash not working. Basically LR say that the D4 is not suitable for connecting to a trailer with LED's. How crap is that? I thought LED's were the future, certainly worked OK with my D3

You would have to have the towing electrics enabled to start of with ... But for LEDs you need a shunt fittedG4 Gone ...but not forgotten

When you say (Wiggs) a shunt do you mean to the car or van and if the car would this in any way affect the warrant?
Looked at a new Swift today, noticed it's fitted with LED lights at the rear, having an MY13 D4 with genuine LR electrics, is this likely to be an issue

Yes it will. However Swift are aware & will SELL you a product made by Sargent, for approx. £30 that plugs into the caravan electrics to cure this. This info came from the Swift rep. at the launch of the Elegance/continental at my dealers. They won't include it as standard as only certain towcars suffer this problem, & the new l/r and R/r are in this group.never drive faster than your guardian angel can fly

Hi All,
I have a 2013 Swift with LED tail lights and do not have any problems and do not have a shunt fitted.
Thanks guys, been looking at the Elegance 570 but the Dealer is dropping his price but his eyes aren't watering yet, he knocked £1500 off Saturday, the Alko wheel lock at £250 thrown in yesterday, another £300 today, looks like he won't budge anymore, will leave him to stew, not bothered I can wait, even if it is next year.

Will an Elegance with a D3 work okay or will it require the shunt for the LED lights?

Sargent VLM4 module
I collected my new Swift Conqueror 645 on Friday and had the flashing problem through the indicators.
I checked on here and found the post by PKO regarding the Swift module so did a bit of investigating. It's not a Swift product as it's actually made and sold by Sargent (People who supply Swift their electrical systems). They will supply a module (Car specific) which fits between the road light loom and fuse box which is located under the front N/S seat. It really is a ten minute job and anyone could do it. They charge £34.08 for the unit incl delivery and supplied instructions to me in readiness for the module being sent out today/tomorrow. I think you have to be able to prove you have bought a new caravan but this is to record which caravan has the module fitted for any future buyer having a different tow car.
