Rattling rear passenger Seat

I've had my MY12 D4 HSE since March. I've wanted one for years and have now filled the gap on the driveway.

I'm having a bit of an issue with slow acceleration (or being in the wrong gear) after turning a corner or joining a roundabout, but I'm holding back on a trip to the dealer until I've had a bash at fixing the rattle from the rear seat immediately behind the driver. If I have no joy, I'll ask them to fix both.

Does anyone have any clues? It's definitely from the seat as it stops when there's a passenger in it. A quick search has failed to give a solution.

Yes I've had this occasionally and it's usually cured by folding the seat forward as if allowing someone access to the 3rd row seat then repositioning them firmly ie ensure the latches are firmly secured/locked. Hope that helps

Thanks for that.

Folding it down reduces the rattle but it returns when the backrest is put upright again. I'm wondering if it might be the card mounted carpet on the rear of the seat backs which seems loose to the touch.

Any other ideas?

I had a similar problem and after lots of attempts to locate the noise discovered that it was the brake pipe that was flapping against the underside that that was causing the noise. Unfortunately you have to peel back the heat shield to discover this.

If I recall the pipe is routed on the drivers side.

Land Rover source the material for the brake pipe clips from a local cheese maker.

As for the slow acceleration from roundabouts or turning corners, just ensure your foot is well away from brakes. ie. if your wearing boots etc any slight catching of the brake pedal will cut revs.

On my previous car (not a LR) the rattle was in one of the headrests. Got that replaced, rattle gone.

Same rattle, although behind passenger seat. Found it to be play between the latch and floor mounted pin. Temporarily stuck cloth beneath pin to reduce the amount of play by pushing the latch housing upwards when engaged, and it worked. Will have LR look at it at next service
