Front Parking Sensors

Hi all. Just picked up my first ever Discovery 3 (57) and realised 2 things in horror. 1) The size of the thing on the roads; 2) I have rear but not front parking sensors. I have had a look at the older posts on this but nothing seems to be fairly recent. So to re-introduce the query, can I retro fit the parking sensors (I think the answer is yes), and is there someone knocking around that can sort the internal electrics that LR seem to say you can't do.

First off take out the drivers headlight and look for a couple of spare connectors ( or one spare if you have front fogs )

If its there then it makes the job a lot easier

And yes it will need enabling

Wiggs, if the connector is not present how big an issue is it to fit them? I still have a hankering for them but no connector

Can't be that hard to run cables to the rear. I run 2 batt cables to the rear already to the aux fusebox in the rear side pockets. A couple of wires for PDC would be no problem. Just the connecting up that would cause me issues, electrickery isn't my strong point.
Anymore details Adrian? ie numbers of wires? Where do the run from-to? Do I need any special connector plugs to connect it all up?

6 wires needed (0.35mm recommended )... Got to get from connector on bumper loom ( normally behind the drivers headlight ) to passenger side rear panel in boot

You don't need the correct connectors .. You can just get small connectors to fit ... You can always make one with something like polymorph .. Or even expanding foam

You may have to get a different park sensor module with the front / rear connections on it ... You would need to remove the panel and see which one is fitted

Nothing to hard then. I think I can manage that. Just choosing where to get the wires to cross the vehicle. I'd use the gromit in the aux battery location unless there is somewhere more appropriate? Will pull the cover off tomorrow and see what module I have fitted Thumbs Up

Blimey, that was quick. Thanks, I'll check the headlight later today. Where is the best place to get the parts from? And, it looks like there used to be a chap knocking around on the forum (Tenforcash?) who lived in Derby and could enable the electrics, is he or anyone else able to sort?

Hello. I've just procured an aftermarket front parking sensor kit. Fitting looks easy enough, just need to find out how to remove the front bumper for sensor fitting, then find some power. Any advice on where exactly to tap into some power? Apparently i just need a single feed from, from e.g. Audio power cable. Is that easy enough to find? Bit clueless on this! Cheers.
