Common rail plug

Morning Folks,
I have purchased a performance chip from Chip Express, nice simple straight forward instructions.....remove the common rail plug, plug same into the chip....QED? what they failed to mention is that you need the hands of a 6 year old child to get at the plug and unplug it from the common rail bar......has anyone any ideas how to get this plug off without causing terminal damage to either my fingers or my wonderful LR (2008 2.7TDV6) ?
Many Thanks,
B

My suggestion is to return the "tuning box" you have bought and purchase a proper remap.

Vaseline and patience!
A common mistake made when trying to come up with a totally foolproof design is to completely underestimate the innate ingenuity of fools.

Getting it plugged in is the tricky bit......suppose the vaseline suggestion is for the plug and not my claws.....Martin,I have a few days to try it out and if I am not happy I can send it back......or so they say....any more ideas Question

No ideas about how to fit it, but that may be a blessing in disguise Whistle All these plug-in tuning boxes do is fool the ECU into delivering more pressure to the injectors Shocked Sure it will have more acceleration and go faster, but at what expense ? A proper remap is exactly that, it is a custom map written especially for your car and takes into account many different variables. Thumbs Up

As B16 KJR says, I wasn't suggesting you send it back because it's tricky to fit...

You are right in what you have just said !

"or so they say"

The first thing you will get when you try and return it is "it's damaged, it's used, it's no good to us now"

Cut your losses and send it back,
What is it a dome shaped cylinder like a button or is it a physical chip ?
Sounds to me like something that's just going to increase pressure on the fuel rail giving increased fuel ?

If you are as bothered about the car as you sound I would take the time it would take to fit the thing researching this forum for re-map posts and what works and what doesent ?

I can't give you any advice on fitting it ?
If you cant get it in You could try spitting on it ?
Shocked

Thats exactly what I did, especially as I found out they had wired the plug wrong Shocked Shocked

It will when others won't,

I had a look previously !

£395 Shocked

There are some real horror stories surrounding propping up fuel pressure at the rail, its the oldest trick in the book.
Its good that you have recieved the message, i think you will find that "most" on here will tend to gravitate towards a handfull of respected traders who normally advertise at the top of the page, these guys have been involved with the Discovery some time and a lot of Forum members have become close freinds with said traders whilst handing over huge bundles of cash !

Rolling with laughter

Send it back !
Lets get a group buy sorted out and see if we can persuade Pete to roll out X10 Re-maps with Interface ? Whistle
