Tyres for Disco 3

Can any one suggest reasonably priced tyres for disco 3 2006
We have had various ones but only seam to do about 18K max. mileage.
We do not carry much weight in it or tow very often but the scrub away on the inside. We have had them balanced and checked and all ok

if they are wearing on one edge, its sounds like 4 wheel alignment is needed, not balancing

Thumbs Up Yeah, I reckon.

My scorps have done about 25k miles so far, about 80% gone now, so 18k is pretty poor

Definitely you need a 4 wheel alignment. Possibly you have worn suspension bushing or wheel bearings to? A 4wheel alignment cost me £90 at a main dealer recently, which was cheaper than independent. Ok, they had a special offer on, and it was in there for other work. I also got the dealer to fit some new tyres too, and they matched local prices.

One tip, use your spare if its a full size. Mine was a brand new tyre doing nothing, so got the spare fitted and the best of the old tyres put as spare. There is no point in keeping a new spare under the car, it will only get nicked!

I get 30k out of tyres, but the last set went a few k earlier due to scrubbing the inside away one one rear tyre. Alignkme t was out, and a wheel bearing was loose.

If they are scrubbing on the inside then alignment deffo suspect. Have you had suspension bushes changed then alignment done? Possibly the bushes have settled and alignment needs redone.

Thanks for that, will get them aligned again, but just had new bushes fitted a couple of weeks ago and also had a bearing gone, which explains the tyres then. Hopefully next set will last a little longer. Are any make / type better than others?

I got the Wrangler HP AW. A good all rounder. Avoid the Wrangler F1's, they are very road biased and rubbish in both the field, and snow. Admittedly, I now have an almost worn out F1 as my spare, but hopefully will never need it. Thumbs Up
