Thumbs Up

Not too bad a price either, considering you get a £20 fuel cashback from Tomtom and a £10 voucher from Halfords so that knocks off £30. Smile

Scotland 2007 Discovery 3 TDV6 XS Auto Stornoway GreyDiscovery 3

Hi, only recently found this topic, thought it was a great job and I had some Halfrauds vouchers spare so decided to blatently copy you! Very Happy

Really pleased with the finished result (you're right your photo doesn't do it justice! haha!)
I was fed up with the gaping hole in the dash that was screaming "you should have bought an HSE!" haha! and from what i can tell the TomTom interface is much better than standard anyway.
Really nice easy to read screen on this unit. You mention its easy to remove for updating but of course its also easy to just take a laoptop out to the car and plug it in there for updates in place.

And since it is just a no frills Satnav (albeit a good one) I'm not so worried about leaving it in the car as i might have been with some other solutions.

Initially had it just sitting on its stand to try it out but as you have shown it so much nicer "built in" and so easy to do.

So thanks for sharing B16 KJR! Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

I now have a 5" Garmin fitted with the D4 surround Very Happy I simply had too much trouble with the TomTom unit even after it was exchanged under warranty. I had MAJOR problem with TTs so called customer services so got my money back and bought the Garmin. To be honest the TT had better features than the Garmin but I was not prepared to put up with the hassle from them Evil or Very Mad

Does anyone know how to stop the Garmin Nuvi 2595s overspeed warning ? It goes off if you do 1mph over the limit, so if you do 71mph on the motorway off it goes Banging Head

Sorry Embarassed

I hope your one doesn't give you the problems that mine did. I really liked the way it fitted in and everything, but the customer service was simply appalling and I wasn't prepared to put up with it any longer Evil or Very Mad

It's in the settings somewhere de-select it.

Not that simple I'm afraid Sad

You can deselect the audio warnings but that only applies to the speed camera warnings. There is no way to shut off the overspeed warning.

I read somewhere about creating a "silent" mp3 file and swapping the new silent file for the original "bong, bong, bong" file that the sat-nav uses when you exceed the speed limit, but I can't find it now though but thats starting to get a bit too complicated.

At least with the TopmTom you can select to have overspeed on or off.
