D4 Rubber mats not fitting into MY2013 D4 - HOW TO
Having just received delivery of my 2013 D4, I thought that the rubber mats that I had bought on Ebay, which went into a 3 month old D4 would actually fit.
Sure enough the front mats are fine - with central hole -
but the rear fixing hooks on the 2013 are different to the 2012 D4....
a cursory look at the hooks made me think that the only remedy was to cut a hole in the mats - bit of a bummer, but I thought that I would have a look at the hooks first to see if I could get them out.
After some fiddling I got lucky and realise that although these seem firmly fixed to the car, you can actually remove them without either breaking them or the carpet....
All you need is a small flat head screw driver;
The clips are continuous, so create a full circle around the carpet. The end nearest the front of the car, with the hook on it is where the clip comes apart. Below the hook and burried about 5mm down in the carpet is a clip which just needs releasing by inserting a small screwdriver and pushing towards the rear then the "hook" end will unclip. You can then un-thread the whole clip and take it out of the carpet.
hmmm...not the best explanation...think we need a photo...

Thanks Rich_S ... I'd given them a good tug, to no avail, and was resigned to 'destructive' removal Long succession of Disco's since 2001...

great hopefully it will relieve the annoyance of discovering that LR keep "updating" things to relieve us of our hard earned cash.

Just picked up my D4 MY13, I see what you mean about the matt hooks, many thanks for the info you have posted here, just to confirm,
Are the D3 and D4 rubber matts the same??
My stealer put rubber ones in the vehicle and they don't appear to fit as the car has the two hooks pictured in the 2nd row foot well, with the clips 12" apart, the matt however only has one hole in the foot well which is about 2 inches away from matching up with the hooks, and another hole at the outer perimeter of the matt to the side of the seat where its no where near a clip!!!
I take it this is the norm, and that L/Rover couldn't be bothered to re design the rubber matts, despite changing the location of the hooks?? or is there slight variants in D3/D4 Matts??

Not sure about the differences between the D3 & D4 rubber mats, but essentially you can tell which is which from the front mats; the D4 versions have a single central hole and the MY13 hook is in the right place. With the second row, neither of the MY13 D4 hooks are in the right place for MY12 D4 mats. What you describe seems correct for the mats and you should have some clips that go with the mats that go through each mat hole and lock from the underside of the mat. Those same clips screw into the carpet and hold it down (obviously fix them to the carpet first then drop the mats on top and lock them in). The hooks delivered in the MY13 are of no use and can be taken out and stored/discarded.
Hope that makes sense.

Cheers rich,
The mats are the same, the only thing is, if you follow the fitting guide on topics, you should get some alternative clips, and you cut the tops off the ones you pictured for the 2nd row and fit the twist type ones. . . .
Guess my stealers either cant read or cant find this info so they just threw the mats in on top of the pre fitted clips and threw the alternative clips in the bin rather than make the customer happy!!

Yeah...my thing was not to do any cutting, hence the removal of second row hooks, rather than "adapting".
the twist in type should have come with the mats.

i've just picked up a new MY13 D4 HSE with matts supplied (and charged for). From reading this, it would appear their fobbing me off with old stock as the rear mats dont line up with the hooks in the floor of the car.
Please confirm / advise.
Am guessing the MY12 mats will be cheaper / old stock.
