You can take them apart but it's not a five minute job and probably not for the faint hearted, besides they are not 100% sealed in any case.
The best way would probably be to remove the affected lamp unit and keep it indoors somewhere nice and warm for a while, take the caps off the back first though (the access caps for changing bulbs.)Clive

Hi Manni
This is a post which shows you how to take it apart
but as crwoody says think taking apart should be last resort

Is there anyway to get the bulb out and blow hot air from a hair drier into the lamp unit until its dry?

I had a puddle in the bootm of mine so took apart and removed the horrible orange rubbish as well, it really isn't that bad a job
I did also put a large bag of silica gell in the back of each one as well (100g bag) and they have been totally dry Joined the BMWX5 45e group

Did the hairdryer bit with limited success (bulbs removed etc.), but then tried the silica gel method which worked a treat. Will attempt the 'taking apart' task at later date.

I was watching "Wheeler Dealers" on Discovery Turbo the other night, and Ed was doing up a P38 Range Rover. The front foglights were missing and he commented about there been 2 pipes in the socket where the fog light should have been.
This was he said, to help dry out the lights after wading, apparently the pipes were fitted to allow the heat from the lamp to rise up one of the pipes, and sucking fresh air in via the other.
Does this work in practice (never had a P38 to try it)?
Maybe a similar system could be used to keep a leaking D3/4 headlight dry?

Light clusters are sealed. The condensation in the lights is not unsual, one of mine was like it on delivery dealer replaced. The other got misty later. I just took the plug off the back and left them in for 30 mins. Put the plug in with some silicon grease on the O ring, no problems since.“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Same here, remove the bulb cover switch on for 30 minutes and they dry out under their own heat (if it's just misted) then before re assembling silicon grease the o-rings. Worked a treat on D3 and D4
