Fitting Side Mouldings
I've got a set of Side Mouldings to fit to my car. The instructions say that the ambient temperature needs to be 20C to 30C for the adhesive to bond correctly.
Does anyone know how important this is because if I have to wait until the outside temperature gets to 20C then I can't fit them till later next year.

did mine weekend before last, 3-5 degrees outside... I left the strips in the airing cupboard overnight and used a heatgun (carefully ) to warm up the panels one at a time, nothing's fallen off so far
Just make sure any paint protection isn't on the areas the strips stick to, a good few industrial degreasing wipes will do the job
Its for the adhesive to bond....park up in your garage and turn the fan heater on (or hairdryer!)2007 HSE Java Black.....sold

Assuming that the adhesive backing is similar to that which we use for fitting on-glass antennas, I would suggest that you really want it to be a warm day.
The antennas have similar instructions and I had a customer who insisted that we fit an antenna quickly on a cold(ish) day - about 10deg. He was back within a week with a small square patch left on the screen only......
As TFC says, careful use of a heat-gun (or hair-dryer) may help. Do you have a garage that you can heat-up??

I did mine in the summer (though it wasn't that warm) - 5 minutes hair dryer on each door panel to warm it nicely before trim application did the trick! Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Wish I had a garage, would be good to store my D3 wheel collection. Mind you absolutely no use for a hair drier!

Do what I did for my D2 Assuming that you have double radiators in your gaff...then lay them on the top of the rads for about an hour before fitting..they will remain hot until you have finished 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Thanks for the tips. I do have a garage but it's gone the way of most family homes i.e. full of stuff.
Looks like the best thing is if I can wait till the weather getes better. If my patience runs out (which it probably will) then I'll try the hair dryer/radiator thing.
Thanks everyone

Finally did mine last Saturday. It had just stopped raining and was about 6-deg C outside. Dried the doors, cleaned them with Windolene (!), dried them again and fitted the strips, which had been been sitting in the porch since January. Still there 5 days later...No longer a D3 owner but still subscribed to multiple threads!
