NFU & Remapped ECU's
Keep hearing good things about NFU insurance, off-road cover etc. Does anyone know if NFU have any issues with a re-mapped D3. Will they issue cover, does it cost any extra
Thanks.
The answer was no when I asked them, they don't cover modified vehicles apparentlyThe End

Would standard LR Nudge Bar and Driving Lamps count as 'modified' do you think?Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Standard fit LR accessories are usually fine ..but as you posted a few moments ago ...tell your insurer and ask them to note it on the system 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I sent a list of mods of my Defender (before I bought it) to NFU - included winch, chipped TD5, roll-cage etc and they were OK with it, they did refer it to their engineers.
I've found NFU very flexible and straight forward to deal with, especially when I had one of my previous Defenders stolen. Paid stratight away, said I'd never see it again - they were right, I haven't.
Very good value IMHO.
cheers

Oh well, doesn't sound promising, but I guess I'll have to ask my local branch, just in case. Thanks all.

I would suggest that you state that you have had the car remapped as a fuel economy aid. Quote the torque improvement rather than the bhp and you should get a more favourable response.
When I spoke to my local NFU office they said they would not insure my remapped D3 unless I was an existing customer. When I moved house I switched my home insurance to them and will talk to them again about car insurance at renewal time.
