Quick Remote FBH question
Hi there,
Just a quick one for the knowledgable on here ,
I have a BAS fbh remote unit fitted! and have just bought a gsm/webasto unit, i will be powering up the gsm one independently iof the BAS one obviously, but my question is.....
Can I just join / splice the green wire to the fbh into the wire from the BAS unit?
So in effect, having 2 x fbh controllers fitted, but with one common wire to the actual fbh, not sure if the feed to the fbh is just some sort of trigger or a constant live or similar.
Electronics not my strong point , so please don't baffle me with technicalities
Many thanks.

The trigger wire from the Webasto unit has to go to pin 2 on the FBH that is presuming of course your Webasto unit is based around a 1533 timer.
Does kind of beg the question why do you need 2 controllers?Mods:

I knew someone would ask that
I wanted the gsm option so I could fire it up wherever I am , I always have my phone with me but not the Bas plipper.
I wanted to keep the bas unit fitted for its fault clearing and purging features.
The bas unit goes to whichever pin it goes to with the green wire from the bas box.
Are you saying the 1533 unit may use a different pin??
I just assumed it went to the same one as the bas one.
... plus you are not always in the vicinity of the car when you want to fire up the FBH. I call mine from the train. 50 miles is a little distant for plip use!

I have just checked my BAS instructions and it too uses pin2 , so as Narpy says, the webasto 1533 also requires this pin, can I just splice the trigger wires from both units to terminate in pin two, or will having this configured this way cause issues with either device.
Thank ya Procrastination is the thief of time!!

Sounds like a good plan. I keep planning on adding a plip, I already have a gsm unit but signal around home is terrible, it does usually work but on a couple of occasions this winter it hasn't worked where a plip would!
I still want to keep the GSM option for when I'm at work on the way back from a job to the office!26 and on the 4th LR..

Mmmmm, not sure about try it and hope, just don't want any damage to occur to either unit if the supply feed/trigger goes back up the joined but not in use controllers wire .
Why am i so shockingly bad with electrickery stuff Procrastination is the thief of time!!

You'll be fine. You could fit a diode to the trigger wire from the other controller to prevent interference with the other but you won't need to, it'll be fine.
Wire it up and remember Red to Red, Black To Black, Blew to bits. Mods:

Thanks for the heads up, will google giff gaff , I like the expiry bit of it as my old set up had one that expired after 6 months, would you happen to know what the coverage/signal is like please?
It's O2 so however good they are in your area. If you do go GiffGaff then check out the link in the FBH/Danhag pages - you get a fiver free credit and so will Martin

Perfect, I am on O2 anyway, I have ordered a sim, so will have to wait till it turns up so I can get things working.
Thanks again.
