Keyless entry ? check your doors |
|
Had a problem with the drivers, door recently now diagnosed at dealers as a wiring fault in the door loom. Problemn only came to light when i opened the drivers door and the alarm went off. It turned out i didnt have the keys in my pocket . Suggest all other owners double check there doors occasionally with keys out of range as the drivers door was openable when i the vehicle i believed was locked . update on this
seems original info on faulty cable was incorrect or relayed to me incorrectly
the faulty cable was infact the mechanical release cable from the door latch to the lock release
Were the cable joins the door release catch there is a white plastic nipple with agroove which clips into the internal handle assembly .This nipple was cracked and it seems when the door tried to lock it meant the cable wasnt able to move fully thereby causing the problem as the internal lever didnt pull in fully to the locked position.
i did notice a few times that the mirrors didnt fold in first time on remote locking and think this was a symptom of this problem. so if your getting an intermittent mirror fold check your doors
Got to give a to hunters in southampton for a good diagnoses and for what i felt was a reasonable bill (£250) MY05 SE D3 Manual my first LR what a car
