Iphone 4 doesn't pair with Bluetooth |
|
Recently bought a 59 plate GS (no touch screen audio). I can't get my iphone 4 to pair. In fact it doesn't even detect LandRover. I've read some posts on here about iphone issues but it doesn't seem the same. I've running IOS 5.1 and can't see an easy way to revert back to an early IOS to see if that is the problem. My girlfriend has a 3G that also doesn't work but it's also running IOS 5.1.
Haven't so far been able to find somebody with another bluetooth phone to test so I can't work out if it's broken or an IOS / Landrover compatibility issue.
Can anybody clarify (in Laymans terms please !) or advise me on the best way forward.
Thanks.

Obvious question but does it have the phone system? Are there red/green paddles on the RHS of the steering wheel? If no paddles, no factory fitted phone kit. Just coz there is a phone symbol on the Hifi, and a keypad, doesn't mean it has BT. Especially GS level.

Hi, yes the dealer said it has got the phone system and it does have the red / green and voice buttons on the right hand side of the steering wheel. When I collected the car the sales chap tried briefly to set up my phone but it didn't work so I just said I will have a look later as we were both in a bit of a hurry.

If 2 phones don't find it, assuming it is there, chances are it's knackered. It'll be nothing to do with ios 5.0.1, dozens if not hundreds of peeps here run with that, me included, without any issues.
Another thing to try is pulling the green paddle once or twice, it should say NO PHONE FITTED or NOTHING IN MEMORY. If not would suggest module not playing.

IOS is 5.1 (not 5.0.1). I upgraded both phones a few weeks ago but can't now go back to 5.0.1.
I guess I need to find somebody with another phone or an earlier IOS to test it before declaring it broken. Will double check with paddles to see what happends.
Thanks for your help.

Ah, yes meant 5.1. Mine's on 5.1, just checked. If there was a problem with that there would be loads of chatter re that as there are mahoosive number of iPhone geeks on here.

If the software was just needing updated wouldn't it pair but just need the code re-entered every time it connects? Prior to updating mine it would still respond to a search, connect with the code but need re-coded every time it reconnected.

I think I will have to contact the dealer and get them to have a look. Bit of a pain as it's 2 days of travel each way for me but there is another issue with the headlamp LED's not working too. Thanks for all the help.
BTW, to try and play music from my phone without using Bluetooth I tried plugging into the Aux jack behind the centre console but that doesn't seem to work either. Begininng to wonder if I bought the right car ....

It's possible that the previous owner never had any phone newer than what the original software could cope with/recognise. I know mine has responded better to my iPhone 4 since the last software update was done, and the other day when I went on my ill-fated journey up to Northern Ireland where I was supposed to be getting my Navigation updated, the dealer said there was a whole new Bluetooth and entertainment package software update due to be done on mine, going by the chassis number. 2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

May be so.
Is there any way to confirm that there is a bluetooth module installed? I'm wondering if the dealer hasn't made a mistake.
