Steering Lightness

Hello. New to the site, so please direct me to the previous threads if there are any...

Test drove a LR3 SE '08 plate today, low mileage.

How much play should there be in the steering? Both my girlfriend and I felt that the steering was very light even compared to the '07 SE we tested a couple of weeks ago, and wondered if anything was wrong, or if there is a setting somewhere to make it more responsive?

In addition to this, as a passenger in the back, I felt as though the rear end was jumping around. It was not smooth around corners. My girlfriend said it was like driving on snow.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

We also detected some 'tram-lining' and massive under-steer.

could be worn bushes, tyres worn/over/under inflated, Suspensions geometry needs aligning.

If it doesn't feel right, then get them to sort it until it does or as mapplecottage says, just walk away and find another one. Thumbs Up

Thanks. I had come to the same conclusion. Just interested to know what the problem might be.
