When you fit your new one, use a small tie-rip on the L shaped thing
to keep it in-situ!

Hi at all
i have the same problem actually, my tailgate won't open.
I can heard the sound of the actuator , but the tailgate remain closed.
So i have searched into the forum for info and i have read the usefull guide posted on it.
Im going to followthe lifgate latch diagnostic guide, but i have some problem into the first phase.....
where the guide show howto use a knife or a screwdriver to release the trim and release the carpet to gain access, it seem that behind the carpet there is a panel (plastic or similar) and the carpet seem to be sticked to this panel....
so i have some problem to gain access to the water shedder....
anyone could give me a suggestion to pass-over this problem ???
Sorry for my poor english

Hi
Being the person that started this posted and have now ordered the part from eBay i thought i would be a good person to reply to your question.
I found the hardest part was removing the panel as its very tough plastic. BUT DONT remove the carpet from the panel - you need to get behind the panel and pull the panel and carpet off as one.
Hope that helps

If it feels like the plastic is about to break, that is quite normal. I needed large screwdrivers to lever the panel out, but also started taking the carpet off first Joined the BMWX5 45e group
