A noisy diff tends to be the opposite. Quiet under power, and noisy when coasting

Greg i had similar whine type noise couple of years ago. Can you hear it if stationary and rev car slightly? Mine turned out to be AC compressor pully

Stationary is ok even when reved up hard
Ac compressor was the other thing on my list as the engine seems to whine a bit more with ac on
Have to book it in when find time
Cheers

My front diff was always noisy under acceleration or deceleration, quiet when coasting.... Until it got bad enough that it was noisy all the time (even turning it by hand with the wheels off the ground and the engine off it made noise!)Dennis

My 'suspected diff' is only whining on deceleration and not yet at all obvious under acceleration. When decelerating whine is there when in gear and coasting in neutral. Just waiting to see when it gets too noisy then replacement at strathearn....

my diff whined on acceleration from 60+. if i eased off it went away. I used to entertain my self in traffic by playing tunes !!. if its the diff you should hear the whine coming from the passengers (left hand side) footwell.Duncan

I do not think it is the diff as it comes from mid section if engine bay more pronounced in slow speeds below 30 mph
I am betting on on of the pullys or something like that
will get that checked
cheers
