33psi sounds very low, my heritage recommends 48-52 psi.....................................................................................................
If my wife ever sells my stuff for what she thinks I paid for them, you lot are gonna get some bargains!

This OP got me looking at my caravan tyres as I'm off to Dorset on Tuesday. I've got a Sterling Eccles Elite Wayfarer twin axle. The handbook states 33psi for the original tyres which are 165R13 83T. However, my van has 165R13C (light truck) tyres. According to the Tyresafe website these should be inflated to 65psi.......is this right?? It's nearly twice what is recommended in the handbook.........what would you do??

If your 165R13C tyres are load index 94 as in Tyre Safe leaflet it sounds like they may be over specced.
Here's a formula from Caravan Talk forum - you need to plug in your own figures:
Where a manufacturer's recommended tyre pressure is not available, this formula will allow you to calculate the approximate tyre pressure for your caravan.
(MTPLM Kg) x (Max tyre pressure in psi)/((Max tyre load Kg) x (Number of wheels)) = Running tyre pressure in psi
Example:
Twin axle so 4 tyres
Max tyre press = 65psi (written on the tyre wall)
Max tyre load = 670Kg (written on the tyre wall)
MTPLM = 1800Kg (see plate on caravan chassis)
1800kg x (65psi/(670kg x 4)) = 43.6psi MY12 D4 HSE Ipanema Sand

Thanks for that D4mation, I'll plug in the figures and see what it comes up with.
Cheers,

Thanks for that Al, do you know if those are light commercial tyres (c rated) or standard? I spoke to someone else today who thought 65psi was far too high and I'd end up shaking the caravan and crockery to pieces! I still need to do the calculation that D4mation sent me when I pick the van up tomorrow.
One slight snag is that I had the D3 recovered from Taunton today with a loud grating and knocking noise from the front drivers side wheel..........see separate post!!!!

mine were standard tyres (original fit from new), and yes, if you run the pressures up that high its not only the crockery that you'll shake to bits, but pretty much all of the screws holding the 'van together as well
I wouldnt have thought it would tow very nicely either, bouncing all over the place.
