Front Tow bar

we have just bought an 2006 SE. We also have bought a caravan. I was about to buy a caravan motor mover, when I saw a post about using a front tow bar instead. Can anyone give me advice on what to buy.

If you are asking whether to have a motor mover or a front tow bar, then I would recommend a MM over the front tow ball. You will get the 'van in place far easier and with more accuracy.
If you are looking at launching a boat etc then I'd say a front tow ball would be great.......

Hi,
if you have bought a caravan with the lock through the wheel, then a MM is really good for lining the bolt hole up Laughing

Still keep un-hitching then thinking oh dear! forgot to line it up Again Rolling Eyes

A front tow bar is useless if you need to position the caravan hitch first

Unless you have a twin axle I wouldn't bother with a motor mover at all, or a front townar

I fact, we don't have one on our twin axle either

We do have a winch and a snatch block on the D4 though Thumbs Up 8)

Re the wheel lock, that's all we used the MM for on our old caravan Laughing

If you can afford it I would always recommend a motor mover.
I can put my van exactly where I want without any effort and without recruiting the rest of the sight to do so!
I cannot understand why there are people out there who say 'do not bother getting one', if you can afford the money and the weight then why not?
You'll never regret it!

I only say don't bother because we have had one on our twin axle for 6 years and never needed to use it so a complete waste of money.

But if you know you need one and are unable to position the caravan with the car, then buy one Thumbs Up

A Discovery is a wonderful vehicle but it cannot put a caravan where a motor mover can. Simples.

Correct, but it depends on where you need to put it.

A move I use for additional security is to put the caravan into place hitch first. Whatever end of the D3 is involved it would be trapped, so went for an axle mover. It is geat fun - biggest radio controlled toy I've ever had!!
