buy new - what to expect.....

Hello to all
im newbie here... Shocked

Since there is a good offer from the Greek dealers, im about to purchase a new vehicle (TDV6 S type with sunroof, 7seater, AUTO, Clima-the last ones to be sold in Greece prior to the arrival of the euro4 upgraded ones.

What are the major issues which i have to "expect" in terms of reliability...??? Just name few - don't feel mercy, i don't change my mind i'll get it, but i rather be prepared for the...worst Laughing

thnx to all

Well, if mine is anything to go by, at least 16,000 miles of trouble-free driving.

And sore face muscles.

what model year are you buying?
Just make sure that all the latest software has been applied - you can only take the dealers word for it though, there's no way of telling Rolling Eyes and you should be OK
Discovery 3 has very few mechanical problems, and what there is doesn't appear very often, so just enjoy !

They told me its Aug06
i think from the last euro3 ones
The price is lowered by approx. 3000UK pounds, prior to the arrival
of the 'euro4" one, which as i see it does not have that many upgrades, so i'll like to go for this one.....

August '06.... fine vintage Laughing
If you can, go for an 07MY spec - the Euro4 TDV6 is so much better, feels like it's 7/8ths turbochipped 8)
If you can't, get it TC'd - it'll feel like an 07MY then Laughing Laughing

i thought the 07MY has the same power, even ive heard that since engine is identical and due to the new euro 4 specs, it might have lost a bit of hp?? wrong????

Power is more or less the same, but it's definitely more responsive - fuel economy is better too 8)

price wise, is disco 3 MY07 more expensive compared to a MY06 identical model
lets say comparing an early summer disco03 MY06 with the new euro 4 MY07???? (ok i know there are the few improvements plus the rear parking sensor)

i try to calculate what will be the price (in greece) for the MY07 one

Back to "reliability issue" (GUESS right, haven't bought it yet Smile), and being new to the LR 4x4 issue and carefully checking reader's review on

http://www.whatcar.co.uk/car-review-readers.aspx?RT=678

my overall impression is that either a LR disco3 is "problem free" from the begining or "full of problems", right?? And i could calculate a 70% - 30% respectively.

What do you think

thnx

You are more likely to get a problem free example now than you were 12 months ago. The dealers should all now be up to speed with the car, and there are fixes for most known problems on older cars.

Mine is one of the very first ones (Nov 04), and its remarkably good. I had some electronic glitches early on, a new seat, a failed gas strut on the tailgate, and a park brake that only got fixed at the 60k service last month. (OK now).

As a higher mileage user, the only mechanical thing that is starting to show, is some wear in the rear suspension bushes. My dealer will replace when I have time to book it in.

Go buy it, you will not regret it.

Dear Garet

thnx for the quick reply
i want to buy it indeed as i love the overall look of the car. However, i don't like to think that i''ll be an "often visitor" at the dealer's (having in mind that here in Greece, there are VERY few who know exactly how to fix the problem....)
