My soon to be spare will have 1.5 mm measured from top of ware bar is this legal. thanks

still legal - the wear bar is (should be) 1.6mm depth left, which is the legl limit for tread across 3/4's of the tyre in the UK. (if I've got that last bit right)
so from what you've said, you should have 3.1mm tread depth left.
that would be a new tyre on most of the Corsa's round here

Note to self: Always read the post properly.
Yes, the wear bar is the legal limit, so if you measuring on top of that you'll be fine, provided of course the rest of the tread complies with the rules.

Thanks chaps thats ok then as i took measure from middle and the outsides are deeper.  I will have a pirelli scorpion zero available from monday if anyone interested 255/55/19 4-5 mm .
