Disco 4 Slipping out of Drive into Neutral
My Disc 4 (2010) has recently started slipping out of drive into neutral. Happened 4 times now:
1. Once when driving along at circa 50 mph. Had to cruise to side of road. Put car out of drive into park, rengaged drive and off we went.
2. Three times now in car parks after reversing out of space, engaging drive and nothing there. Place the gearstick back into park and back into drive and off it went with no problems.
It now seems to be happening every time we take the car out. Only done 13K miles.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I read that the Disco 3 had a problem with a small nut/link connecter that was fairly straightforward to replace. Is there a similar prob with the Disco 4. Car is o/w running away very smoothly with no other problems. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the same as the D3 issue, it's part of the herritage.
Link can be greased with spray grease, did it to mine & no reoccurrence.

I was assuming a normal D3 type shifter.

Thanks for the advice. It is a 6 speed regular autobox. Had the car out today and it didn't do the same thing. Will have a word with the dealer down South also, but thanks again.

I had exactly this problem with my D3 a few weeks ago. Turned out the problem was the link connector. Sprayed with "Duck Oil" then greased. All working fine now for minimal cost

A quick update and thanks again. The car was seen/serviced at our dealer in Inverness and the problem was a sticking selector linkage (I presume the same fault as the D3) and replaced etc under warranty. No problems at all now.

Good to see that's not on the parts list that were new for the D4. It's not like LR didn't know about it.
