My D3 is going to the menders in the morning

My D3 is going to lancaster (Reading) tomorrow for a replacement bumper after an O2 van decided it wanted to go to the big white van heaven in the sky. Ford transit forgot to stop at a roundabout Twisted Evil and ploughed in to the back of me.... D3 slightly cracked bumper, Transit right off!!

Up until 2 months ago I used to drive a white van (55 Renault Traffic) I know which I feel safer in!

Also the 'insurance assistance' (not LR assistance) co called yesterday while we were in belgium to let me know what hire car they were letting me have while the D3 is in the shop...... can you guess.....

a Brand new..........

Sold through Yes Insurance, but was 'sub-contracted' Shocked to royal and bun alliance - get this I have a yes insurance certifikit its only when I regestered the claim I found out they had 'sub contracted' it. I didn't think that could be done Shocked I found them through confused.com

Ever since I registered the 'accident' every tom dick or harry have offered to 'assist' me with the claim (based on it being indisputed the other drivers fault) all promising to ensure my driving will not be affected... was really surprised when they called to say it would be a D3 - I expected a corsa with 1 extra seat - we need 6!

If you hadn't been offered a D3 you can still go to companies that will lend you a like for like car and then claim off the other drivers insurance. This of course only works if the crash was not your fault. Why should you drive anything less than what you drive already? This brings me to another point. When you have had a bad crash most main dealers will offer you less than the car is worth when you Pex the car so why don't insurance companies pay the shortfall too?

The Hire D3 is a 07 SE version less than 200 mile son the clock - oddly with the premium ice.

Thankfully it drives no different than mine..... so it will go back Very Happy
